Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page!

Summer 2022 marks the start of my great mountaineering adventure, to raise awareness for Prostate Cancer Research (PCR).

In 2020, my grandfather broke the news that he was once again facing the prospect that he might not live through his prostate cancer; for a good period it was like someone had turned the lights off in our lives- I'm not only doing this challenge as a means of celebrating his fortunate recovery, but as a show of support for those currently fighting their own battle with Prostate Cancer.

With all cancer charities equally worthwhile causes; I ultimately decided to support 'Prostate Cancer Research'

#TeamPCR takes a more aggressive stance against Cancer; actively contributing towards the pioneering research into prostate cancer, deepening our understanding of the disease and working towards future breakthroughs. You can read more about their work here:

The Challenge

In my fundraiser, I want to make a statement with something ambitious:

A three stage trial of both will and endurance, to stand on some of the worlds highest points, within the space of just a few short months.

  1. Welsh 3000s, 24hr challenge (11th June)
involves traversing 55km of rugged terrain and tackling 15 of Wales' tallest peaks in under 24hrs. A true endurance event.
  2. Mt. Meru & Mt. Kilimanjaro- the HARD way (10th Sept.)
A wild trek through Arusha national park, scaling the imposing peaks of a 4500m volcano- then summiting the world's largest free-standing mountain and the highest point on the African continent via its most direct and demanding route.
  3.  Cerro Aconcagua (17th December)
A 'Groundforce' supported expedition to the high Andes, laying siege to a remote mountain nearing 7000m in height- Aconcagua is the highest point on the globe outside of the Himalaya and the final milestone of this great adventure.

You can follow me to basecamp through the JustGiving blog and hopefully support my journey through my donation page.

Please offer anything you can spare towards supporting this amazing charity; it really can make all the difference.

Thanks for both your kindness and ongoing support.

- Marcus.
