“Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favour.”
2 Weeks:
HASTINGS HALF - CROYDON HALF - BRIGHTON MARATHON
On 23th March 2014 I will enter the arena once more and for two weeks I will live below the line, on a pound a day ration to gain first-hand insight into the lives of people living below the poverty line.
The unforgiving arena awaits with three surprises on the way only 1 week apart from each other:
On the first day I will be running the Hastings Half Marathon, hoping to run in under 1:30 for the first time of my short history, so against all advice I will not be saving any effort for later.
On the following Sunday I will play at home and run my first Croydon half. No plans to save any effort either and although this is a hilly one I am hoping to run not too far from the 1:30 mark. Hopefully I will have made the most of the first week on a 1 pound a day budget for food and drink
Finally on Sunday 6th April I will exit the arena just after running the 26.2 miles of the Brighton Marathon and in the spirit of giving it all I will run with the purpose of getting in somewhere bellow the 3:15 mark, which will be another personal best.
On a serious note, according to UNICEF About 29,000 children under the age of five – 21 each minute – die every day, mainly from preventable causes. That is almost half a million for the duration of these Hunger Games.
Please sponsor me and help give a fair chance in life to those who haven't quite started to make a difference in this world.
