Story
After many years of inactivity I've given up smoking and restarted running. My goal is to run the Berlin Marathon 2013 in under 3 hours 45 minutes (in fact my stretch goal is under 3 hours 30 mins...) while raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Why Macmillan Cancer Support? My two grandfathers, my father-in-law and my father all died of cancer (my father at only 48), it just feels right to raise funds for this cause!
How much should you donate is totally up to you but know that £1000 is only my bare minimum goal. Here are some examples to get you thinking:
£10 could fund 21 copies of The Cancer Guide a booklet for people recently diagnosed with cancer (and their families!)
£25 could pay for someone to get help from the Macmillan Support line
£156 could run the Macmillan Support line for an hour (providing an average of 13 people with free, essential information and support)
£190 could fund a Macmillan nurse for a day
£400 could cover an equipment grant for a Macmillan professional
£900 could pay for a Macmillan social worker or family support worker for a week
£1900 could fund 10 Macmillan palliative care nurses for a day
