Story
Cure Leukaemia helps blood cancer patients to access pioneering drug and transplant treatments by funding a network of specialist research nurses across the UK. Without these nurses, to ensure patients are monitored and cared for, clinical trials of these new treatments would not run and patients, that have exhausted standard treatment options, would miss out on potentially lifesaving therapies. Every penny raised for Cure Leukaemia helps save lives and also hastens global progress towards the eradication of all forms of blood cancer.
In September 2017, our cycling club completed the 100 mile Velo Birmingham to raise funds for Cure Leukaemia, along with our team leader Marco. Amazingly, and after being diagnosed with Leukaemia earlier in the year, Marco managed this tough cycling challenge only a few weeks prior to his Stem Cell Transplant
Now 6 months after Marcos successful Stem Cell Transplant, our riders are again in training. This time, to support and cycle alongside Marco as he makes his way from London to Paris - a 500km journey in only 4 days.
The Really Great News...
Following the groundbreaking treatment of Cure Leukaemia, Marco has recently received the fantastic news that he is now in remission. All his friends and family are acutely aware that things could have been very different if not for the hard work and dedication of Cure Leukaemia, Professor Craddock and his team at the QE Hospital in Birmingham.
So, all we are asking you is to take a minute to donate to Cure Leukaemia and support Marcos challenge. Importantly, every penny you donate goes directly towards the charity and really does help save lives such as Marco's. No matter what your donation, small or large, every contribution helps.
Finally, and even if you're not in a position to donate, please take a moment to spread the word and let others know about our cause by sharing this page on your social networks. Every single share, like or mention really does help.
