Dreamflight is a UK charity that was set up by 2 British Airways cabin crew some 26 years ago. It has a simple aim: to bring joy, laughter and happiness via a holiday to the faces and the lives of those children who for whatever reason, may never have the opportunity to do so again. Where better for this to take place than Disney World Florida, where every October, for 10 days 192 children from all over the UK and beyond are treated to an incredible holiday of a lifetime.... leaving their families behind to become part of a dreamflight family made up of small groups of a group leader, doctor , physio, nurses, non medical escorts, crew and volunteers. For some of these children they have not much more time with us in this world, so it really is letting them forget all what is heart wrenchingly wrong and enjoying what they should be doing: being children.
I am now asking you for anything you can spare to raise money to fund this annual trip for these children very much in need by sponsoring me to climb Mount Fuji.
Fuji is Japan's highest peak at 12,388ft with a tough varied route up, steep in parts and scrambling through rocks and boulders through others.
Myself and both cabin crew and flight crew colleagues will be working the flight out on 28th August 2013, resting only a few hours on arrival and then take the 3 hour journey by road to Mount Fuji base. One small detail that I have yet to mention is that this climb will take place throughout the night to see sunrise from the peak as dawn breaks. Not much time to recover on this one either as will be operating on the flight home the following morning.
Dig deep please, as little or as much as you can afford, it all counts to bringing a big smile to these less than fortunate children.
