I am currently 16 years old and I am a Sophomore at Highland High school. I am a responsible and dependable student who always tries his best in school. I was approached to be part of this event by one of my teachers. It is a pageant that helps raise funds for children in need. We have many activities that both raise money and help us get closer to some of the kids. For example we spent a morning playing basketball with some of the kids. It was a fun event that let us interact with the kids and get to know them. We also had a volleyball tournament with other schools who are also doing their own pageant. This event helped raise some money. I joined this event for two reasons. The first and by far the biggest reason is that i want to help The Memorial Foundation and do my part by participating in the fundraiser. The second reason is that I believe this event will help me break out of my shell. This is something completely new to me which will allow me to gain experience in a field I am not familiar with which will make me a better person in the long run.
