Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer nearly nine years ago in March 2011, and the care and treatment I have received since diagnosis has been amazing. I’ve had numerous courses of treatment: hormone therapy, high dose brachytherapy, radiotherapy, further hormone therapy, and I'm currently nearing the end of a course of 10 cycles of chemotherapy!
I'm very lucky, and although my cancer isn’t ‘cured’, and probably never will be, I live a normal life, doing normal things. I'm without symptoms and none of the treatments I've received have caused any significant problems or side-effects . . . including the chemotherapy!
Not all those diagnosed with prostate cancer are as fortunate as me however, and therefore it's essential that research continues, particularly into finding effective methods of screening and diagnosis, and into improving the efficacy of treatments. Even in a very modest way, if I can help PCUK to continue the amazing research they’re funding, by doing something as simple and personally beneficial as going for a brisk walk each day for a month - something I do every day anyway - then it’s the least I can do, and I hope that you’ll be willing to support my efforts.
