Story
Raising some money for the Irish Cancer Society by running 10k every day for the month of March.
The Irish Cancer Society is a charity partner of Boots ROI, and they do fantastic work for people with cancer, and for survivors (www.cancer.ie)
I will do one 10km run every day from the 1st to the 31st of March. It cannot be split into shorter runs, and I can't bank miles to take a day off. There is always a risk of Injury when there are no rest days, so we will cross that bridge if we come to it - but hopefully not! I have a history of running, but nothing meaningful since the Edinburgh marathon in 2017, so 10km a day is possible but difficult.
About me - I work full time as a pharmacist in Galway City Centre - its a busy job that cannot be done from home, and never done sitting down. With my work it is easy to neglect daytime nutrition and hydration, so this will be a great challenge. Like many people during lockdown, I feel like by overall wellbeing (mental and physical) has been tested, so it will be interesting to see how daily running affects this.
Money is difficult at the moment for so many people, but please donate if you can. Charities have struggled hugely over the past year as many of their fundraising events are not possible, so the money has never been more needed.
