Story

It was 2012 when the London Olympics had begun, London was full of excitement. We had the perfect weather for 3 weeks, what a fluke that was!

Whist watching it go GOLD on TV, I was suffering from abdominal pain, so I thought I’d get it checked out. However, my GP and urologist found nothing to worry about but, they checked further. I was shocked when I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer 2 weeks later with a Gleason score of 3:3 at the age of 47. The Olympic flame went out and to a degree mine too, I had Cancer! I felt empty inside.

I was given options and decided to go ahead with a Radical Prostatectomy. After having gone through the operation, Mr Bhanot informed me a few days later the cancer had not spread; a huge relief he had caught it early truly amazing news. Whilst recovering I was then diagnosed some time later with TB and Sarcoidosis in my lungs due to my immune system.

10-year anniversary on and by the Grace of God I have a normal PSA level, Sarcoidosis in control, a better immune system and a new lease of LIFE.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to my Rock Diamond wife, Mukta, my mother and fantastic children Prem, Arjun and Radhika for their love and support. I am grateful to my extended family and friends for their love and support. Special thanks to my GP, Dr Soares and his team at the Heathcote Clinic, Mr Shiv Bhanot, Professor Toby Maher and Dr Anne Collett and all the many other doctors and nurses that cared for me at Spire Roding, Royal Brompton, St Thomas’s, Guys London – Queens, King George Hospital Redbridge, Prostate Cancer UK March for Men, Mcmillian & Apple.

I would like to thank the management team and my ex colleagues at Cerillion Technologies for all their support. My supportive employer made life so much easier to navigate through the difficult months and I will always be grateful for that. It made an enormous difference to me and my family.

Of course, I feel my story is important to me, but I would like to express a clear message to all men out there. YOU need to be aware of your physical self and make that all important Dr’s appointment to check any pain or symptoms you may think are not important. It’s not only the men aged 75 and over that get prostate cancer, 1 in 8 men do and that’s thousands of Granddads, Dads , Partners, Brothers, Sons & Mates

10 years on I felt that a 10km walk around London’s Olympic Park would be a fitting way to celebrate LIFE with my wife and children and support a truly wonderful charity.

Thank you for visiting this page! I know it’s another donation but I am proud to be living amongst a truly wonderful community of people in the world’s most generous country.

Thank you again for all your support.
Love and regards
Ketan
