ALL THE LATEST NEWS IS AT http://radio.warwick.ac.uk/marawthonstrikesback - CHECK IT OUT!

This February, the members of RaW 1251AM, the University of Warwick’s student radio station, will be taking on an exciting challenge to raise money for charity. In support of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, for 100 hours, RaW will be leaving behind its regular home inside SUHQ and broadcasting live, day and night, from outside in the elements. The outside broadcast will be based on the Piazza, the central hub of campus.

The MaRaWthon Strikes Back (excuse the Star Wars pun) sees the return of RaW’s annual charity event, which last year raised over £1000 for a local homeless charity. From 12pm, Monday 3rd February to 4pm, Friday 7th February, RaW’s DJs will be broadcasting their shows from outside, bringing an array of great music to the piazza alongside a cheery atmosphere, despite the chilly nature of February. As well as airing the planned weekly timetable, extra content will be broadcast during the night, from 11pm to 8am. For the entire one hundred hours the members of RaW will be outside, come rain or shine, snow or hail.

This year, the station hopes to match, if not exceed, last year’s fundraising target, and as a charity with personal meaning to members at the station, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the perfect choice.  It funds research to treat and cure CF and aims to ensure appropriate clinical care and support for people with cystic fibrosis.

RaW provides an opportunity for students at the University of Warwick to attempt the world of radio, inspiring many to love the medium. The MaRaWthon Strikes Back will be an exceptional display of the radio talent at Warwick, no matter the location, whilst also raising awareness and money for an important charity. To donate to our cause, please visit our JustGiving page.
