Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A while ago i wasnt able to run a single mile without getting out of breath or stopping to walk, now here i am about to take on the biggest challenge of my life 'The Virgin London Marathon 2013'. In this past year ive lost more than 3.5 stone in weight (over 50lbs), gained some confidence back and completely changed my life for the better. I have taken part in a number of races but nothing quite as daunting as this. What better way to celebrate all that, than to hopefully tick off something thats always been on my To-Do list, The London Marathon. I have always watched the marathon and wondered what the atmosphere would be like and what it would feel like to have that medal round my neck, hopefully on the 21st April, il know.
But im not just running because ive always wanted 'that' medal, im running for a great charity thats helped families like mine when a loved one is losing thier battle with life. In November 2008 my grandad lost his battle with cancer, he had Hiler Cholangiocarcinoma, Cancer of the bile duct to you & me. Losing a relative to cancer is one of those things you never think will happen to you, but it happens every day to millions of people, they say that 1 in 3 people has some form of cancer, thats a scary thought.
So what does Macmillan do? - Macmillan are a source of support helping with all the things that people affected by cancer need and want. Its not only patients that live with cancer, its also families, carers & communities. They fund nurses & other specialist health professionals & build cancer care centres. But they give so much more than medical help, they can provide anything from time off for a carer or a lift to the hospital. They also provide financial & emotional help, they listen, advise and share information and they even help cope with extra costs that cancer can bring, heating bills & travel etc. So this is why Macmillan need our help, without our donations they cant continue to help so many families out there. Im sure everyone knows at least 1 person who's been affected by cancer, if you donate just think youll be helping make them or there families lifes just that little bit better. So not only am i running in memory of my grandad, im running for everyone i know thats been affected by cancer, losing someone to cancer is really tough but knowing their not suffering anymore, as strange as it sounds is uplifting. So please dig deep and donate what you can, any amount you can give really will help.
Thankyou so much, il do my best to not let you down..x
