Story
In April 2023, we will be undergoing the 37th edition of the Marathon Des Sables (MDS). MDS is a six-day, 251 km ultramarathon, which is approximately the distance of six regular marathons. The longest single stage is 91 km (57 miles) long.
This multi day race is held every year in southern Morocco, in the Sahara Desert. With the event running since 1986, it is widely regarded as the toughest foot race on earth.
We are thoroughly looking forward to the physical and mental challenge ahead, however, we also thought it would be a great excuse to raise awareness and funds for a charitable cause. Our chosen charity for MDS is Suicide & Co, which is a charity that offers help & support for those bereaved by suicide.
Having both lost family and friends to suicide, we are proud to undergo this crazy challenge on their behalf.
Our goal is to try and raise £25,000 for Suicide & Co – aiming for £100 per km we are running.
Below is a bit of a breakdown that shows what different amounts of donations will allow the charity to do:
£36 funds a counselling session.
£432 funds a full programme of 12 counselling sessions.
£20 funds a day running the helpline.
Please donate as much or as little as you can!
Many Thanks,
George & Duncan.
