Story
I am a new father to my adopted son George, who was diagnosed with epilepsy 2 weeks after coming home with us forever when he was 8 months old.
10 days after George came home with us forever, he started having small seisures that looked like electric shocks. We rang 111 and then eventually 999 which ended with us in alder hey hospital a&e overnight and in a ward the next day. An EEG scan was carried out that confirmed george had epilepsy.
The diagnosis was a massive shock and an upsetting time for my wife Gayle and I, especially so close after the long and intense adoption process we had endured.
Tests are still ongoing to find the root cause for the epilepsy and to potentially understand further the prognosis so it will be a long road.
We have however had wonderful support from the consultants, staff and epilepsy nurses at Alder Hey hospital.
Throughout this rollercoaster experience, running is something that has allowed me to recharge and reflect and I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to run the London marathon on behalf of the Epilepsy Society.
I would really appreciate your support in raising as much as I can for this important charity that has become very personal to me and my family.
