Story
Man Vs. Legs - The steak off
What started as a case of mistaken gender (yes, I was called a
girl) quickly snowballed into a male vs. female steak eating contest between myself
and a young lady named Lizzie. It's at this stage I should probably
point out that Lizzie's nickname (& twitter name) is hollowlegs...
So why charity? Initially the 'steaks' (badum-tish!) were for pride,
bragging rights and a comp'd steak from the extremely generous Will at
Hawksmoor (www.thehawksmoor.com), however as word spread across the
internet (well, twitter) Will and another a generous twitterer both
pledged to donate £1 per 100gr of steak consumed, with the total
going to the winner's charity of choice.
It now seemed like a great opportunity to have fun and raise a bit of cash for our respective charities at the same time.
However, there are rules to this contest!
The rules:
1. Both contestants need to choose their meal
2.
Both contestants have to have the same non-steak food and drink
3.
Both contestants privately message @hawksmoorlondon their
steak target (e.g. 800g bone-in rib). If they fail to eat it all they
lose. If they both eat it all the person with the biggest target wins.
4.
Hawksmoor will comp the winner’s steak.
5. If both contestants
fail to eat their steaks Hawksmoor wins and you pay your whole bill.
Hawksmoor laughs at you.
You can go and vote for who you think
might win, here.
If you're on Twitter, it's been hashtagged as #manvslegs.
My chosen charity is Everyman, they aim to raise awareness of and perform research into, testicular and prostate cancer.
So, if you think I have it in me to demolish a vast quantity of steak, have a look down the back of the sofa, dig out those 2p's and make a little donation to a worthy cause. I can't say how much steak I propose to eat (it's a closed bid until the night) but I can say it will be less than 2.5kg, if you want to donate per 100g eaten (you don't have to) please bear that in mind!
One final thing, if (when!) I win, I will be donating the value of my steak to Lizzie's charity of choice, NSPCC.
Thanks,
Adam
