Story
****UPDATE****
Due to everyone's generosity (46% of goal reached), and due to the fact we have reached our goal of 60km for the month we have decided to up the effort to 100km before the end of September
Please donate to my World Big Dog Walk Challenge. 2020 has been a tough year for humans and dogs. As a charity, Pets As Therapy have been suffering tremendously throughout this world health crisis and they would appreciate your support. We will be getting out and about in our own environment in the safest way possible and will make the challenge harder... someone once told me that it’s difficult to sponsor someone that did not set a challenge hard enough...
With this in mind I have pledged a distance that we (myself and Willow) will run during the month of September to raise money for the Pets As Therapy, We shall run a distance of 15 KM each week. Note that until 7 weeks ago I did not run at all, so the challenge is there!
Pets As Therapy is a national charity. The charity enhances health and wellbeing in the community through the visits of trusted volunteers with their behaviourally assessed animals; providing a visiting service in hospitals, hospices, nursing and care homes, special needs schools and a variety of other venues all across the UK.
PAT therapeutic visits provide many benefits such as:
Enhance lives in our communities by providing companionship and friendship and helps to tackle loneliness.Improve the lives of people suffering from debilitating mental and physical health conditions and illnesses such as Autism, Dementia and Stroke by including animal assisted interventions as part of a holistic approach to treatment.Improve literacy in children by developing their confidence, interest and enjoyment in reading through our read2dogs scheme.
With COVID all PAT visits have been suspended but we have started assessing new PAT Dogs (and cats) for the last few months preparing for when we can restart this amazing work
Having signed-up and received our pack we ask that you please donate as generously as you can to help this charity so dear to our hearts. Thank you!
