Story
Thank you!
I completed the 50.8 miles in 10 hours 51 min on a hot day last Saturday.
It was very tough and I had to dig deep after suffering from cramps in both legs from half way through the race. I think I had a guardian angel with me during these painful miles.
The support from friends and family at Colley Hill was overwhelming and the food and massage much needed.
Special mention to the Smith family who came along with Karen to support me at the last aid station at Botley Hill.
Thank you all for your support and your donations. Every single penny will be used for research by the laboratory at Portsmouth University and we hope it will make a difference to many children and families in the years to come.
In May 2009 we lost our beautiful Jasmine to an untreatable brain tumour. She was nine and full of life and laughter.
All the people we came across during Jasmine's illness were fantastic and so supportive. However there was no cure for Jasmine's tumour.
I am fundraising for a charity called Taylan's Project that raises money especially for research in paediatric brain tumours as it receives less funding than other cancers.
Taylan's Project (www.taylansproject.com) operates under the umbrella of Brain Tumour Research.
I have been training for one year for a 50 mile trail race on 17 May across the Surrey Hills from Farnham to Knockholt Pounds in Kent, and qualified for it by completing the Farnham marathon last October. I am hoping to complete it in 10 hours which is a huge challenge (my family says I'm mad!) and requires a lot of hard work and focus over a long period.
But I know it will be worth the effort.
Thank you for your support.
