In October 2022, to support the fantastic charity, Transaid, Tom Gosbee (MAN Truck & Bus UK TopUsed), Craig Shannon (Parts Manager, MAN Truck & Bus Manchester) and Christopher Woolford (Branch Manager, MAN Truck & Bus Swindon) are going to be participating in an incredible challenge that consists of cycling a gruelling 502km through Malawi, Africa. They will be doing this over five days in over 30 degrees heat & tough terrain, so they better get training!

Transaid transforms lives through safe, available and sustainable
transport. 

In sub-saharan Africa, road deaths are the third biggest killer following HIV/AIDS and Malaria. There is a huge lack of legal enforcement & training and badly maintained, overloaded vehicles which means drivers are at risk every time they sit behind the wheel. 

People living in rural areas of Africa often struggle to access vital services such as healthcare. Around 75% of maternal deaths could be avoided through timely access to vital childbirth-related care.

What do Transaid do?

• Support drivers, governments and training institutions to improve road safety
• Work with partners and governments to train driver trainers to help reduce death & injury on the road
• Work with governments and other organisations to create and promote far-reaching improvements in driving standards
• Enable women, children and men in rural communities to reach health services when they are in need
• Strengthen transport systems and this can provide access to appropriate forms of transport
