On Sunday 22nd of May I will be participating in Morrison’s Great Manchester 10k run, one of Europe’s largest runs of its kind.
There are over 4 million Iraqi Orphans, equal to nearly twice the population of the entire Greater Manchester. Many of them are victims of ISIS and the barbaric war crimes ISIS have committed against the Iraqi people and nation.
IUS Aid is aiming to raise £20,000 funds for the Orphans of Iraq. It takes just £1 a day to meet the basic needs on orphan in Iraq.
On the 11th of November 2014, the United Nations refugee agency (UNHRC) released a statement that estimated 13.6 million people have been displaced due to the invasion by ISIS.
ISIS has targeted all segments of Syrian and Iraqi society including Muslims, Christians, Kurds, Assyrians and Yazidis. At Camp Speicher alone an estimated 1,700 men were killed on a single day. Many have been forced to leave their homes and are left with inadequate shelter, clothes and food sources.
In last year's run participating community members (including scholars!) helped fundraise just over £9000, which went on to help a number of families living in Sadr City, Iraq.
Text RUNM71 £10 to 70070 to donate by text.
We urge you to help the thousands of families in Iraq who are relying on your generosity.
Thank you.
