Story
Dementia is such a horrible illness as I'm sure you are all aware, it took my Grandad in such a short space of time, but he sadly died on Tuesday 17th December, he had Rapid Progressive Dementia, what a vile and cruel illness, I didn’t however know that it was possible for dementia to get hold of someone so quickly, just over two weeks really and he’s been taken forever.
I went down to say my goodbyes to him and offer my Nanny some support in Southampton. While I was travelling back to Ripon, knowing I wouldn’t see him again, I decided that I couldn’t do anything to help him, but I could do something for other families living with dementia in their lives. So I am really going to challenge myself in the hope to raise some money to support families and research, I am going to train and climb the Yorkshire 3 peaks in 2020 (and then hope to climb the 3 peaks in 2021) with all money being raised donated dementia UK. Now this is a massive challenge for me, and not content with it being a challenge already I am to complete in under 12 hours! I’m not very fit, I’ve not climbed a mountain since I was a child but I’ve got a goal, passion and a reason to keep me focused. Please donate if you can, every penny counts and can make such a difference!
Sadly this was postponed twice by covid and since then my nan has also died from dementia, I am still doing this but John will be supporting me every step of the way!
