Hi my name is Mandy Carr in August 2010 I was diagnosed with 9 Meningiomas (Brain Tumours). It was just before my first wedding anniversary to my husband Mike. Our world fell apart as it all seemed to be so hope less. We were in shock and very frightened. In the September 2010 I had a crainotomy to remove 6 of the tumours at Addenbrookes Hospital leaving me with partial paralysis down my left side and Epilepsy. I struggled with my strength, terrible tiredness, pain and depression. In 2011 I was told I had regrowth at the orginal site and that the other 3 tumours would have to be dealt with. I was referred to Sheffield Stereotatic Unit for Surgery which took place in January 2012. I have regained most of my movement but still suffer weakness in my left leg and my left arm but I work on imporoving my situation daily with a positive attatude and I have a good support network of family and freinds.
I want to use my experience positively to help other and give them hope and support. I am walking to prove those wrong that said I would never be able to walk without my leg brace and the two sticks I was given in 2010. I want to raise as much money as I can for The AstroFund that does excellent work funding research to find a cure for people with Brain Tumours and suporting them in difficult times.
Help me raise as much money as we can and I will put every effort to complete every step of the 10 miles of this walk - I shall be walking with my friend who helps me with healing Chris Thompson-Brown. Please give generously as Brain Tumours affect more people than you would imagine.
Your support is valued and appreciated. Not only will you help the others by giving geneourly to the AstroFund you will help me gain confidience again by walking the 10 Miles of beautiful Norfolk coutryside with my wonderful friends.
