Story
On June 5th I will be cycling 72 miles from Wetherby to Filey in aid of The Great Yorkshire Bike Ride selected charities* and also Sue Ryder- Manorlands.
I am 38 years and although I am a fairly active person I have always been very overweight. I bought myself a bike at Christmas 2008 to try get fitter and to everyones amazing I am still cycling in 2010! I love challenges and have convinced my sister Joan and a couple of friends, Melanie Addis and Lorraine Ambler to join me on the ride. How and why you might be asking? Well apparently there are fabulous cakes at the various bike stops on route!
I am pleased to say training is going very well considering I had a 25 year gap riding a bike after crashing into the back of a parked car when I was 12. I cycle regularly on the and canal with my sister Joan and my dog Megan running alongside (actually she is usually in front!). My next big step is getting off the canal towpath and onto the main road! This is not going to be easy as last time I tried I was so terrified I kept falling off.
I'm hoping to raise £1000 but I can only achieve this amount with the support and generosity of friends, family and colleagues.
If you would like to find out more about what I'm doing and pledge your support, please contact me via email mandiefarren@hotmail.com or my mobile which is 07814 419649.
I have 2 charity pages. This one is for Sue Ryder - Manorlands and GBYR charity page is for Martins House, Epilepsy Research, Candlelighters, Yorkshire Cancer Research and Heart Research. You can choose which charity you would like to support.
Many thanks
