Story

On 28th November I am taking part in Sleep Out for Centrepoint.

This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time. Living in Manchester and being fortunate enough to travel to various places in UK, I see first hand the huge issue we have with homelessness in this country and it breaks my heart.

103,000 young people experience homelessness every year and the effects can be devastating.

The thing has struck me the most...without a fixed address you do not ‘exist’ in this country. You cannot get an appointment with a GP, you cannot seek benefits, you cannot vote.

Centrepoint supports young people to recover their health and find a job and home of their own. Their approach works and 86% of those they work with leave Centrepoint positively.

I would be grateful for your support, whether that be monetary or kind words. One night doesn’t come close to the reality of being homeless but I hope in taking part I can raise awareness of the issue.
