Story
In September 2019, my Mum, brother Mark, Husband Jason, and myself attended an appointment with my Dad Andy to hear him diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease.
At the time, none of us could imagine what the following year's would entail.
Sadly my Dad passed away on 24th February this year 4.5 year's after the diagnosis, having spent the last 2 years in a specialist carehome.
To watch him quickly deteriote has been the worst time of my life. An emotional roller coaster and heart wrenching. To see the man I adored and looked up to weekly lose a part of himself was so very cruel.
They say Dementia / Alzheimers is grieving your loved one whilst they are here, only to grieve them again when they are gone. This is so very true.
Dementia is the UKs biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and currently there is no cure.
I am taking part in the Memory Walk, with my Mum and not only do I feel I'm an honouring my Dad, I know it would make him proud.
Raising money, or donating to someone who is, all helps go towards finding a cure for this terrible Disease.
JustGiving sends all the money raised directly to Alzheimer's Society. Please help me raise my target and help provide hope for us all in the future.
Everything £1 and pennies count and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any donationyou give.
