Story

On October 26th, 2018, our daughter Kallipateira was Stillborn just two weeks before her due date. As I held Kallipateira in my arms I made her a promise that I would do her proud and continue her legacy by helping to support other parents who have experienced the death of a baby/babies, and also to help save babies lives. The devastation of Kallipateira's death is with me each and every day. The pain does not go away but somehow you have to adapt to a different life. I would have given Kallipateira my life for her to be ok. I must now be Kallipateira's voice and through her do my bit so other parents don't have to go through our pain and devastation.  Every baby deserves a chance at life.

Kallipateira is the love of my life and in her honour and for her legacy to help save babies lives I will push limits even further with my 2023 Extreme Challenge Walk.

As Kallipateira’s dad I need to channel my grief into this and raise more funds for Professor Heazell and his team to help save babies lives through research.

On July 15th, 2023, I will attempt to walk 206 Miles nonstop from the capital of Scotland Edinburgh to Saint Marys Hospital in Manchester. The Extreme Challenge Walk will start from Edinburgh Castle, and I will be looking to complete this in a time of 68 hours or less. My support team will be Gaynor Thompson,  Jason Croft and Adam Todd.  This is a huge challenge for the support team too so please get behind them!

We are proud that Dignity Funeral Directors are the official headline sponsor of the Edinburgh to Manchester Extreme Challenge Walk 2023.

On May 23rd, 2020, we gave birth to our rainbow baby Apollon Alexandros Moorhouse who was born early at 35 weeks at Saint Marys Hospital in Manchester. After the death of Kallipateira and a miscarriage we knew that to hopefully give Kallipateira a brother or sister with a better outcome we must be cared for by the best in the UK, Professor Alexander Heazell of The Tommy’s Rainbow Clinic and Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre in Manchester. Through the world class care and research, they undertake and put into practice, we are proud to say Apollon is a real-life miracle. If it were not for Professor Heazell he would not be here.

What is a Stillbirth?  A stillbirth is when a baby dies after 24 weeks of pregnancy - before or during birth.

Every day 8 babies are stillborn in the UK. Most of these beautiful fully developed babies are healthy and they should be alive. Professor Heazell and his team are making a huge difference with their research - every baby deserves a chance at life.

Professor Heazell and his teams are the main beneficiary of The Kallipateira Moorhouse Foundation and through our support we will help to save babies lives.

All funds raised for my 206-mile nonstop Edinburgh to Manchester Extreme Challenge Walk 2023 will go to Professor Heazell and his team at the Tommys Rainbow Clinic and Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre to help save babies lives.

I ask everyone to please support and donate/sponsor what you can and by doing this you will be making a huge difference for Professor Heazell and his teams and helping to save babies lives nationally.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best wishes

Ben Moorhouse
