Story

Purple Wave is a UoM Sport community organised to bring people together to celebrate and enjoy spending time together, whilst being physically active. The Purple Wave started as a single event in 2016 but has recently been expanded to include a series of events each year.

You can raise money for the Re-write Cancer campaign using this page for all our upcoming events. If you would prefer to raise money for a different cause which is close to your heart then that is great as well. Please register by clicking ‘Join team’ above and then creating a fundraising page for your chosen charity, so we can highlight the extent of everyone’s fundraising efforts.

Here are the Purple Wave events for the 2022/23 academic year:

Event 1: Selfie Run - 29th September 2022
Event 2: MCR 24hr Run - 16th November 2022

Re-Write Cancer:

We all know someone whose life has been changed by cancer, which is why researchers in Manchester are working hard to improve how cancer is treated and help more patients with cancer get back to normal life. This is where we can help. Working in partnership with Europe's largest cancer hospital, The Christie, and Cancer Research UK, The University of Manchester is building a world-leading cancer research centre. The new centre will bring together one of the largest concentrations of doctors, nurses and researchers in Europe all working together to tackle cancer head-on. But this will only be possible with the help of people like us. Please join me in re-writing the future of cancer by sponsoring me today!
