Story
Hi there,
My name is Haydn and I am hoping to raise money on behalf of a Charity in my daughter’s honour, named “Bronwen’s W;sh” (Registration No:1195777). Bronwen was aged 26 years when
she sadly took her life in the summer of 2020 after struggling
with her mental health for a number of years. At the time of her
death, Bronwen was a 2nd Year student at Cardiff University studying
Mental Health Nursing (Please visit our site if you wish to know more
about her and our charity bronwenswish.org). Bronwen’s W;sh has been set up with the aim of trying to improve the mental health of children and young people as well as trying to bring change to Mental Health Services through campaigning
What we are doing:
Our aim is to provide a Wellbeing Pod or Den to any Primary and Secondary School that would have the need for one. These unique pods will be built specifically for children who are experiencing any type of challenge with their mental health and wellbeing. It will be a quiet, safe place to relax and talk about their feelings. These dens will be constructed away from the main hustle and bustle of school and have a very calming atmosphere. We want to encourage children and young people to talk openly about their mental health and to feel comfortable and safe doing so. Our ultimate wish would be for EVERY school to have a wellbeing Pod within their grounds.
The Plan:
During the month of June this year, myself and my dog Celog (pronounced Kellogg) intend to walk the entire Pembrokeshire coastal path in one attempt. Just me, him and a rucksack. The route covers 186 miles and the ascents and descents are said to be the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest – 35,000 feet (Hence the link to Everest which I hope got your attention!!! . . .sorry). I plan to take about 3 weeks in all as I have arthritis in both knees so I will likely need some rest days (this will also be my personal Everest!). Celog and I intend to use campsites along the way, some wild camping and hopefully a night on a sofa halfway around.
I appreciate that these are hard times for all of us, so any donations would be gratefully appreciated and would go a long way in trying to make a difference to our future generation.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and share my story.
