Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page!

As some of you may be aware that I have been wanting to do a skydive for a while now but just have never got round to actually doing it. Well the time has finally arrived and I have decided to bite the bullet and pluck up the courage to do this on Saturday 3rd September 2011!

I always knew I would do a skydive while raising money for a charity; however I just didn’t know which charity to raise money for.  There are so many charities out there all doing something worthwhile, however I wanted to choose a charity that was close to home and I could relate too.  Therefore I have decided to raise money for The Stroke Association.

You may ask why The Stroke Association as oppose to the others, well as some of you may know my Granddad who is no longer with us suffered from a stroke.  Although this was over 20 years ago I still remember it like it was yesterday.  That one day changed his life, my Grandma’s life and the whole families’ life forever.  For those of you, who were lucky enough to know him, will know that he was a wonderful man, a loving husband, a kind and caring father and the best Granddad in the world!  My sister and I spent many years with him and have so many fond memories of him.

Every year an estimated 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke. Of all people who suffer a stroke, about a third are likely to die within the first ten days, about a third are likely to make a recovery within one month and about a third are likely to be left disabled and needing rehabilitation. Stroke has a greater disability impact than any other medical condition.

A quarter of a million people are living with long-term disability as a result of stroke in the UK. The Stroke Association is the only UK wide charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages. It funds research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation, and helps Stroke patients and their families directly through its 'Life after stroke' services'. The Stroke Association also campaigns, educates and informs to increase knowledge of Stroke at all levels of society, and to act as a voice for everyone affected by Stroke.

So please dig deep and donate now for this very worthwhile cause.  Even just a few pennies can make all the difference.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you!
