We are delighted to share with you that have created a marathon around the local area. We are running to increase awareness about Multiple System Atrophy and to raise money for an amazing charity- The MSA Trust. This is a cause which is very close to our hearts as our mum and mother-in-law has been diagnosed with this devastating condition. We know only too well of its impact the disease has had on both herself and our family and friends who love and support her.

What is MSA? Multiple System Atrophy is a rare disease with around 3,300 people in the UK and Ireland currently living with it. It is a progressive neurological disorder that affects men and women. It is caused by degeneration or atrophy (shrinking) of nerve cells in several (or multiple) areas of the brain. This can result in problems with movement, balance and autonomic functions of the body such as bladder and blood pressure control. It is a complex condition which currently has no cure and is less well understood than other conditions such as Parkinson's Disease.
What does the MSA Trust do? The charity relies entirely on voluntary donations. They provide vital practical support for sufferers of this disease and their families. It is also the principle funder in the UK of innovative and ground breaking research into MSA. Funding provides; an MSA Nurse Specialist support service, A network of local Support Groups and online forums and accurate up-to-date information for
health and care professionals working with people with MSA.
