In many areas, malnutrition deaths do not even get recorded or counted, so the world may never know the true scale of the tragedy unfolding in Afghanistan.

The head of the World Food Programme describes the situation in Afghanistan as “the worst humanitarian crisis on earth”. Over 3 million children under 5 are expected to suffer from acute malnutrition, with a million at risk of dying.
