UPDATE

I finished the marathon in 4hrs 22minutes, which was inside my target of four and a half hours. Really enjoyed it and will be running another one sometime soon...

Thanks to everyone who sponsored me and cheered me on - seemed like half of Brighton was there giving all the runners encouragement!

----------------------------

On Sunday 18th April I'm taking part in the very first Brighton Marathon (http://brightonmarathon.co.uk/). This will be the first time I have run the full 26.2  miles.

I've decided to try and raise a bit for the children's wards at Worthing Hospital.  Our son Henry recently had to stay on Beach Ward (who look after children aged 0-12) for a few nights and we found the staff and services to be kind, welcoming and comforting despite obvious underfunding and understaffing. They have an excellent play room facility, and even though Henry was in isolation they brought him new toys, books, games and DVDs every day. Some of their toys are looking very tired though, and we'd like them to be able to afford more (or even just afford some envelopes or tea bags; whatever they need). They also welcome toy donations so if you're having a clear-out, let us know and we'll happily pass on any toys etc in good working condition that need a new home.

If you want to donate through this site don't worry about how big or small your donation might be - I've turned off the "amount" function so nobody else will know if you donated 10p or £5,000,000, and I'm happy with 10p! Because of the way Just Giving works, my charity is set up as the Worthing Hospital CT Scanner charity. In actual fact, after the race I'll be giving any sponsorship money you're kind enough to offer directly to Beach Ward.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
