Story

Next Event in our 2020 Fundraising Calendar for YMCA Lincolnshire:

13th March & 20th March - Lent Lunch

On the next two Fridays, 13th and 20th March, we will host lent lunches to raise money for YMCA Lincolnshire.

A lent lunch is a simple meal of soup and bread, given in exchange for a donation and shared with friends and members of the community.

If you would like to come along, contact Sam or one of the team on 01522 24 68 38 and we'd be happy to welcome you.

Please make us feel our efforts are worth it by making a donation today.

What is YMCA Lincolnshire?

YMCA Lincolnshire supports the most vulnerable people in our society, and provides a wide range of support, services and facilities across the county. These include emergency overnight accommodation at the new Nomad Centre, 170 units of supported housing, childcare through two nurseries, sports and fitness, plus training to support people back into work.

Visit: www.lincsymca.co.uk for more information.

Why are we supporting YMCA Lincolnshire?

Since we moved our business to Lincoln in 2011, we have always been made to feel extremely welcome. It’s an amazing city filled with wonderfully generous people who are very welcoming to newcomers.  Lincolnshire is now our home for the long-term and we want to do everything we can to support it.

By supporting YMCA Lincolnshire we will be able to help the most disadvantaged people in the county.

What does this mean to Make An Entrance?

When we first got to know the YMCA Lincolnshire team in 2019 we were blown away by the brilliant work being done to support homeless people in Lincoln through the new Nomad Centre. This 24 hour specialist facility opened in November 2019 provides 20 individual en-suite rooms to ensure that homeless people have a place to stay and 3 meals a day plus the support of a team of specialist and an individual support
plan to help them secure a long term home.

As a small business we didn’t have the funds to make a large donation and sponsor a room straight away but intend through all our fundraising efforts to be able to raise £5000 which is the cost of sponsoring one room for the next 3 years.

We hope you’ll want to help us reach our target.

What will we do?

Throughout 2020 we will be focusing all our fundraising efforts on helping YMCA Lincolnshire.

We are taking part in several sporting events, and hosting a series of lent lunches too.

We will post updates and photos via this page as well as our social channels and at www.makeanentrance.com, so you’ll be able to see how we’re getting on. Check back regularly for updates and don’t forget to share with your friends.

What does this mean to YMCA Lincolnshire?

“We can’t implement our ambitious plans without the support of individuals, community groups and businesses. Every penny donated has been and always will be, spent wisely on services to help those most in need.”

Caroline Killeavy  - CEO YMCA Lincolnshire

What can you do to help?

Donate to the page, whatever you can afford, no matter how small. If every person who read this page just donated £1 we would reach our target in no time at all.

If you could afford to donate what you usually spend on a coffee or a magazine that would be amazing. It would support YMCA Lincolnshire in providing shelter to people who have nowhere to call home.

Previous Events:

9th March - International Women's Day Lunch:

On Monday 9th March we hosted a group of our closest business associates and enjoyed a healthy lunch with them. Guests brought along generous monetary donations as well as gifts for the YMCA most wanted list that were all very gratefully received at the Nomad Centre when Sam delivered them on 12th March. There were teary eyes all-round, and the residents were really excited to see the gifts that had been sent. It really did make a huge difference to them.

6th March - YMCA Sleep Easy:

On Friday 6th March, Stuart our Managing Director, with Chris and Ben from our Technical and Production team slept rough outside Lincoln Cathedral so others don't have to.

Yes, they are all slightly bonkers!

Equipped only with 3 cardboard boxes each for shelter and a sleeping bag and as many warm clothes as they could fit on their bodies, they slept outside, exposed to the elements for the whole night 7pm to 7am.

We posted pictures to prove they did it and would love it if you could lift their spirits by making a donation. They are 3 very brave souls to volunteer to do this, especially with the awful weather at the moment.
