I have been selected to work as a volunteer this summer in Mexico for the Two Birds children’s charity. I will be joining a team of Two Birds volunteers in Puerto Vallarta to offer our time and love to enrich the lives of children who have been abandoned, abused or orphaned. Many have traumatic pasts and suffer disabilities, social and behavioural difficulties which means they need more support than other children. We look for your support to get this team out to Mexico, and provide for their activities once there.

The main focus is to improve the welfare of these children, who have had a very different upbringing to what we may have had ourselves. I have had the best upbringing and cherish my childhood memories, which gave me the motivation to want to help children who are less fortunate than I am. This is achieved by working in close connection to the staff to provide positive role models, trusting relationships and a range of activities such as trips out, sports camps and the regeneration of run-down areas.

In addition the Two Birds project provides some small funds towards health-care, one-to-one support for disabled children and the basic needs (Clothing, education, food). (Two Birds are supported by CIVA)This would not be possible without volunteers, so I welcome any donation large or small as every little helps! I feel so lucky to have such an opportunity and so I greatly appreciate anyone taking the time to donate.
