Story
Hi
My name is Maisey-Grace, I live in Keighley, England and I am 4 years old. My best t.v channel in the world is called TinyPop, during the ad break in TinyPop I have seen a number of adverts featuring children from around the world living in poor conditions, from dirty water to no shoes on their feet to dirty living areas. For a long time I have been questioning my mummy about these people and why they are so different to me and why they do not have fresh water and other things that we take for granted.
Obviously my mummy has typed this and not me, as at 4 years old I can only spell words such as mat, cat and hat, but my mummy wanted to put my view across in a way that people would understand.
My family do not have lots of money or fancy things, but what we do have is fresh water, a roof over our heads, healthcare if we fall sick, correct clothing, a bed to sleep in (even if I sometimes share with mummy) and food in our little tummies.
If I can realize the struggles that these children face at just 4 years old then I am hopeful that you will too, my mummy gets upset at the thought of me not having clean water, an education, a safe home so maybe we need t think how these children's parents feel.
I aren't a special child, I am just a normal 4 year old who has seen something which raised questions to my mummy, and from that I decided that I wanted to TRY and make a difference. I know that I can not make a difference on my own and I know that I will not make a massive one but every little helps.
I understand that we have children in England who are in hostels and children's homes and these children are in need just as much, but in England these children do have water and a roof over their heads.
I will be doing things to raise money over the next few weeks, including a one week rice and water only diet at school which my teachers will report back to my mummy to make sure that I don't cheat :-) also a sponsored indoor rock climb (which should be fun considering I don't like heights) and also a sponsored walk minus shoes. These are only little things but at the age of 4 I don't have anything much more spectacular to offer. Some people set up these pages and just expect the money for nothing, I don't, I want to work for this money and make sure that it is sent to my chosen charities and independent orphanages, I do not want it to go to a large organization where the founders take a huge amount in wages, I just want to raise a little to send to the people who really need it to make a real difference.
£74 can house and feed and clothe an orphanage of up to 20 children for one month, if we together can give them that happiness if only for a month then I think that my goal will have been achieved. I will keep everyone updated with pictures, videos and proof of my sponsored activities via my mummy's facebook (Chelsey Ritchie) every £1 helps
My chosen charity is Childrens I foundation, set up to reunite Uganda's orphans with their extended family, you can find out more about Childrens I foundation on their web page which is www.childsifoundation.org They have to date successfully re-homed over 140 children with their distant families and provided care and nourishment for them in the process, if their distant families can not be tracked then they are looked after until a foster family can be found, every child has the right to feel loved and safe
Looking after the orphans does not come free, they need food, water, clothing and other things that we are handed on a plate in England, I want to experience what they do to get a better understanding and also to raise money for them in the process
I am a non profitable fundraiser
