Story

Training Support (Babaji) Company, Support Battalion, Infantry Training Centre will mark its 2nd Birthday on the 19th of September 2020. Cpl Mahendra and a team consisting of 30 members from the Company are completing a virtual charity run to Babaji, Afghanistan, this is where the Company’s name originates from. The “10 Days challenge to Babaji” will cover a total distance of 6690km. All funds raised will be donated to the NHS, Friarage Hospital where much-needed funds are-needed to update the staff rooms, in particular the kitchen facilities. The outdoor space at the hospital is important for the staff especially so in these trying times that we currently are in. Staff mental health and wellbeing are important, to have these spaces so they can have their escape is something that only can happen with funding. The funds raised will also help to improve these areas.

The event will be conducted in two phases, starting 01 – 04 Sept and resuming from 14 – 19 Sept 20.

As we know the current situation, the world is facing this global pandemic COVID-19, an invisible enemy that has not been kind to us. It has cost many lives and caused an economic crisis. It has dismantled our social life and the outlook towards our normal life has been challenged. No one is safe until everyone is safe. To overcome this devastating situation, we can act together in solidarity to save our community, our human lives.

People around the globe are showing humanity and creating hope for our better future hence, considering this global pandemic we have decided to raise funds for our local NHS. The front-line workers been extraordinary and have been fighting fearlessly putting their lives in danger dealing with this invisible virus. They are always there in difficult, gloomy and our darkest time.

As the number of people around the globe has outsized the roles they can play, we can individually interconnect ourselves and work together to combat this lethal virus. It's a great opportunity for us to engage with our local NHS Trust and thank them for their services and selfless commitments. They are remarkable and praiseworthy, not only in this unprecedented situation but since founded. We all know great things are done by a series of small things brought together. Every little help will be much appreciated. This is to extend our sincere gratitude to all our frontline workers. " Together, we all can".

A sincere appreciation goes to Michael Usher Gurkha Mortgage Services Ltd. for sponsoring the T-Shirts.
