Story

In April 2020–errr, actually—make that October 2022, I will be running the London Marathon, with Team Sense! The mission of Team Sense is to help individuals with complex disabilities to communicate, to access information, and to take part in life. Their team of interpreters, specialists & volunteers help people to express themselves through speech, sign, & movement.

Having had to translate/interpret for my parents & others since childhood, I understand how paramount communication is in our ability to participate. When individuals are able to connect with other individuals or their surroundings, it opens up the world.

This race will be particularly special for me. It will my 5th (and next-to-last!) World Marathon Major. Even more exciting, my parents are coming along to London to cheer. It seems serendipitous--to be running for Team Sense with the support of the two people who taught me the value of facilitating communication. You can contribute to this cause by clicking the “Give Now” button above. Thank you for any & all donations and cheers. It’s going to be a meaningful marathon in London.
