Story
Mark and I are taking on a 100 mile challenge for local charity, Friends of the Cancer Centre. By completing the 'Hero Miles' challenge and raising sponsorship, we hope to help the charity fund financial grants for local families impacted by cancer. I hope you'll support me.
Friends of the cancer centre do so many wonderful things to support people with a cancer diagnosis in Northern Ireland, from all the little things like providing people with free cups of tea and coffee when they’re attending their appointments, to the big things like funding vital research and nursing posts and providing patients with financial support.
Working in the cancer centre I see the difference that Friends of the Cancer Centre makes every day. Funding complementary therapists who will come and visit patients and offer them aromatherapy massages. These massages make such a difference to our patients, helping them relax at what is often a distressing time for them. Friends of the Cancer Centre also funded camp beds that allow family members to be able to stay overnight at their loved ones bedside and be with them if they are very unwell.
These are just some examples of the many different ways that Friends of the Cancer Centre help support local people with cancer. All of these things are so important and make such a difference and would not be possible without donations to the charity. Mark and I would love to raise some money to contribute further to this.
