Story
Maeve was accepted by Little Angels to receive one of their highly-trained Autism Assistance Dogs just before everything shut down due to Covid.
Maeve is considered "medically complex". She has a seizure disorder and autism, among other diagnoses. Like many kids on the spectrum, Maeve has sensitivities to noise, lights, chaotic environments. She is an elopement risk, which means she will walk/run off at times. She elopes in all environments, and it's terrifying for everyone who's with her. Having this Autism Assistance Dog will be life-changing for her, and for everyone else in her life. Her dog will be trained to alert people in the area to the fact that she has eloped, follow her to help keep her safe if she runs off and nobody is around, provide deep pressure and calm for her in situations that are difficult for her, among other tasks. Most importantly, her Service Dog will be a constant, loving companion and friend, for a kid who struggles mightily to connect with others.
Between the pandemic and Maeve's accident it's been a tough go and Maeve's been so patient. After nearly three years she's really close to finally bringing her Little Angel home! We would love to be able to raise the total cost it takes Little Angels to raise and train one of their dogs, which is $38,000. This would mean the organization can use the money raised to continue their mission of training and placing dogs with others in need. Please help us spread the word far and wide, so we can surprise Maeve and bring home her Little Angel!
