Story
In England, strokes are a major health problem. Every year over 150,000 people have a stroke and it is the third largest cause of death, after heart disease and cancer. A stroke has many levels of severity and can affect those at any age and at any time.
Over the past couple of years we have both had people very close to us affected by a stroke, and that is why we wanted to choose an activity which will both challenge us and also take us outside our comfort zone so we can raise money for this worthy cause.
For those of you who know us, a normal weekend away would consist of shopping, afternoon tea, spas and cocktails.
The Three Peaks challenge is far from that and with no champagne bars on either Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike or Snowdon we will be purely motivated by the money we will be raising for The Stroke Association.
The Three Peaks is a gruelling challenge where we will climb 26 miles and 10,000 feet to reach the summits of the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales.
These peaks are Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon in Wales. We will complete them in that order.
We travel to Fort William in Scotland on the Friday 20th June and climb Ben Nevis on the Saturday morning. We will then climb Scafell Pike that night and finish Snowdon on Sunday in Wales!
We aim to complete the event in 24 hours and to do this we need to complete Ben Nevis in 5 hours, Scafell Pike in 4 hours and Snowdon in 4 hours!
This will be a tough challenge for us both where fitness, lack of sleep and ever changing weather conditions will push us to our limits!
So please please dig deep and sponsor us as we take on this amazing opportunity to raise money for the stroke association, such a worthy cause.
