Story
Hi friends and family,
I’m running the Eyam Half Marathon on 14 May 2023 in memory of my sister-in-law Lauren, who died last year when the long term effects of different treatments for Lymphoma eventually overtook her. Lauren was always incredibly grateful for the care she received from NHS staff and for the scientific advances that gave her a real chance of surviving when standard cancer treatments didn’t work.
The Christie Hospital in Manchester is where she underwent CAR T-cell therapy, one of several experimental treatments the Christie provides. Donations help them to support cancer patients above and beyond what the NHS funds, including through research and clinical trials that aim to improve treatment options and survival rates.
The Eyam Half Marathon is a beautiful run through the Peak District, but it’s also one of the steepest routes in the country so running for this cause will help me when I’m struggling up those steep hills!
Any donations, large or small, will be gratefully received.
