Story
Last year I was part of a team of Centrica women who climbed Mount Toubkal in Morocco for Camfed. It was an amazing experience, and between the 38 of us who took part we managed to raise a fantastic £57,000 to help educate girls in Africa.
It was the most difficult thing I've ever done, but had a huge impact on me, so I'm really proud to be taking part in this year's trek in the Mulanje Massif in Malawi.
Along with 19 other Centrica women, I'll be supporting the MicroLoan Foundation, which gives some of the poorest women in Africa the opportunity to work their way out of poverty for good. Unlike other charities, microloan is a hand-up, not a hand-out, giving small loans and essential business training to help empower women to start their own businesses, enabling them to feed their families everyday.
The great thing about microloan is that as the money is paid back, it can be used to help another woman; when she pays it back it's used to help someone else, and so on, so every donation keeps on giving. All of the money you donate will go straight to the Foundation, and donating through Just Giving means that your donations can have an immediate effect.
Thanks so much for your support!
