Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In April 2016, Neil terrifyingly had a stroke out of the blue at the age of 58. It was Maddy who acted FAST (face, arms, speech difficulties, time) and it is because of this that we are able to take on the London Marathon together. This is a massive challenge for us both being completely novice runners!

We lost Neil's Mum (Maddy's Grandma) to stroke 10 years ago and her other Grandad years before. We lost one of our family friends, Rory, aged 54, two years ago and Neil's childhood friend, John, in November 2017.  That's enough reasons for taking on this crazy task.

We need more education, better funding for NHS stroke units (Wycombe  Hospital were fantastic for us; one of England's top 3) and more funds for the Stroke Association to help folks dealing with the aftermath of a stroke. So anything you can spare will be very much appreciated, will  give us that extra boost through the cold, dark training runs and that extra motivation needed when we hit the wall on the big day!

Thank you so much in advance,

Neil and Maddy x
