Story
Every year I do a charity walk to raise money for St Luke's Hospice. As I won't be in the UK for the Midnight Walk this year I will be doing my own version around Jena with my lovely friends and colleagues in tow!
St Luke's is a charity close to my heart. When my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2006 St Luke's were there to support us. At first I was terrified by the idea of a hospice but as soon as I walked through the door my fears melted away. The staff and volunteers were so caring and friendly that it felt like home. They provided amazing medical and personal care but they also gave us the space and freedom to simply enjoy being a family and cherish that time together. I am so thankful to the hospice and to everyone who has supported my family over the years. You are all amazing!
St Luke's is a remarkable place so please dig deep and donate so that they can continue their amazing work!
Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Last year we supported over 1,000 local people with a huge range of support from end of life care on our ward to supporting carers, and from helping children cope with grief to helping patients return to work after an illness. We are a charity and provide all our care for free, so we rely on the generosity and commitment of our supporters to raise more than 80% of our costs
