Story
Reading Spots aims to support the construction of community libraries in remote areas of Ghana. These libraries are self-sufficient and managed by Ghanaians and will support additional functions such as offering free adult literacy sessions and poetry reading competitions - fundamentally offering a community space focused on education.
I am travelling to Ghana for 2 weeks with 10 other pupils from Brighton College in December 2017 to support Reading Spots. We are helping build and equip a library in Tease village in eastern region of Ghana to help improve literacy. All the donations will go toward building this library.
My personal challenge is to cycle from home in Tunbridge Wells, Kent to my school Brighton College. The cycle route is the "long way" and is 100km long and requires climbing 4000 feet over the Ashdown Forest and South Downs including the infamous Ditchling Beacon right at the end of the ride. To complete this challenge I have had to learn to cycle a road bike, to pedal "clipped in" and get fit by completing 250 miles of training. I plan to complete this cycle on Sunday 25th September.
