Story
In December 2008, we all lost an amazing friend who battled hard against Leukaemia. Claires brave struggle was an inspiration to us all, and was a massive reminder of how precious life is, and we have to get out there and push ourselves beyond our comfort zone to truly feel alive.
We did the Reading half marathon this year, but now the team is bigger, and more determined to unite on the day and share in the running experience that is hard to beat. It will be a tough 13 mile run, but the reason why we are doing it will never be far from our thoughts.
Claire watched the race last year, as it was the first weekend she was out of hospital from the stem cell transplant, and was inspired by the runners to even want to have a go at it herself this year. Sadly that is not possible, but we will do it for her.
Leukaemia is a nasty disease, that can hit anyone at anytime, and the treatment is intense and horrible. Leukaemia Care are a great charity for give emotional support to all patients, family and friends. They also help financially to take people away on holidays who would not be able to afford these things that we all take for granted.
Please donate as much as you can, but also get inspired and do something that you would not normally do. Even if it is to say hello to someone on the tube.
"Twenty years from now you will be more dissapointed by the things that you didn't do than the ones you did do.
"So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour.
"Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover"
