Story
37 kilometers. 24 hours. 10 hikers. A maximum test of physical and mental capabilities. Training is now underway and hiking boots are being broken in, as the madAXON team prepares to undertake the mighty Three Peaks Challenge on 11-12 May 2019.
This is by no means a walk in the park – in fact, it is a hike across the three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales all within a single 24-hour period.
The challenge begins in Scotland at Ben Nevis, which at 1,344 m (4,409 ft), is the tallest of the three. Following this, we will tackle Scafell Pike (978 m/3,209 ft), the tallest mountain in England nestled deep within the Lake District. As if climbing two mountains wasn’t serious enough, we'll then make the crossing into Wales to tackle Snowdon, standing no less than 1,344 m (3,560 ft). In total this is 23 miles or 42 km.
What is madAXON?
Madano and AXON Communications are London-based communications consultancies that are both part of the AVENIR GLOBAL network. 10 employees have come together to organise a fundraising team for the Three Peaks Challenge - Madano and AXON are kindly sponsoring our transportation costs, so all money we raise will go to Mind.
Why are we undertaking one of the toughest challenges in the UK?
The ultimate purpose of putting ourselves through this is to raise money for a worthy cause close to our hearts.
Mental health problems will affect 1 in 4 people in the UK during their lifetime, but many people are still struggling. People suffering from mental illness can feel isolated, lonely and ashamed, but the more people and organisations, such as Mind, talk about mental health, the better life is for everybody.
Mind, the mental health charity, believes no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. They provide vital advice and support to empower anyone experiencing mental health problems. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
Have you been inspired by what we’re doing? If so, we would be incredibly grateful if you are able to donate towards the vital cause of Mind.
