Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

In April 2005, we found out that one of our very good friends, Trace, had been re-diagnosed with cancer. Trace, who has been through this twice before, was one of the most brilliant, inspiring and wonderful people to know, and one of our very close friends. And this news pretty much shattered those of us who knew her. Many of us have other friends and relatives who have had, or still do have, cancer, and some of us have lost parents to the disease. And so Trace's news was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back: how could something that we could not see, and could not do anything about, affect so many people's lives?

Trudi and Taz started www.madasbadgers.org with the intention of raising money for Cancer Research UK. The website came into existence on June 5th 2005.

Trace lost her battle with cancer on 3rd December 2006. It's impossible to express in a bunch of words exactly how much she meant to us - she was, and continues to be, a shining light.

Fast forward to 2008, and our event of choice is, once again, the Great North Run.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
