Story
On Sunday May 3 I'll be embarking on my next league adventure. Between the 2017 World Cup, 2018 Commonwealth 9's, and my fall tour to Serbia the sport has given me so much and it is time for me to give back. So, I will be joining the UK-based charity Rugby League Cares and some of the sport's greatest players on an amazing cyling adventure--the UK Red Empire State 500.
I'll be riding alongside individuals like Sam Burgess, Danny McGuire, Keith Senior, Robbie Hunter-Paul and Beth Sutcliffe, who represented England in four Rugby League World Cups.
Our route covers more than 500 miles from Niagara Falls, USA, to Central Park, Manhattan and we have just six days to complete it! It'll be tough but it's for a great cause, so please sponsor my ride and help me to give back to the sport that has given me so much.
Who are Rugby League Cares?
RL Cares helps players and their families when they need it most: at the moment they're supporting Rob Burrow, the Leeds Rhinos player who has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease, and are helping Mose Masoe, a Samoan international who suffered a serious spinal injury playing for Hull KR in January.
They were also there for the family of Featherstone Rovers player Natalie Harrowell when she died suddenly and unexpectedly late last year.
RL Cares does a lot of work in the UK to break down the stigma around mental health, both among the playing fraternity and supporters, and helps some of the most vulnerable people in Rugby League communities.
They're part of the glue that cements the Rugby League family together, and as a member of that special family I'm proud to be able to play my part.
Please give what you can and show your support for the riders on the Empire State 500 - and more importantly, Rugby League Cares.
Thank you to all who continue to support and encourage me in my rugby league endeavors. I would not be able to do all that I do, without it.
