Story
In June, I will be undergoing the challenge of the Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromso Norway.
42.2 kilometers, north of the Arctic Circle, starting at 9pm and running through midnight.
There was only one charity for which I wanted to raise - Disability Challengers.
Challengers supports over 1’400 disabled children and their families every year through the various programs they offer, ranging from pre school play groups to care schemes for teenagers.
Through their amazing programs, Challengers is able to provide these children with an environment in which there are no barriers to inclusion, a safe space to meet like-minded people, and an opportunity to express themselves without judgement.
My family and myself have first-hand experience with the benefits that Challengers can bring these children. My sister, Maddie, had attended the weekend clubs prior to the pandemic, and from the second we drop her off we are able to see the care and attention that the dedicated volunteers provide, and the ensuing smile that covers her face.
With the £1'000 that I am trying to raise, six amazing children could attend the club for a full day of fun, laughter, and excitement. I know that this experience will not only bring an incomparable amount of joy to these children, but will also give their parents the rest and relaxation they deserve, all whilst knowing their children could not be in better hands.
I thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, and I hope we can continue to challenge whichever barriers are put in our way, together.
