Story

In the early evening of 31st January 2017, Maarten sadly passed away after a very brief but hard fought battle with cancer.

After a turbulent Christmas and uneasy New Year, Maarten conquered the first few weeks of January (including Alex and Daniel's birthday) in great form with February in sight. However, unfortunately, despite his best efforts and strongest of mental strength - his cancer gained the upper hand and, in the end,  it was just too much for him.

Tributes and messages of condolence have flooded in from all corners of the world. A true testement to Maarten's incredible character and personality.

Throughout everything, St Catherine's Hospice in Crawley have been exceptional in both the home environment and at the Hospice. I cannot praise them enough for their incredible support to both Maarten and the family. I ask that instead of sending flowers, donations in memory of Maarten be made to St. Catherine's, so that they can continue their fantastic work.

Maarten was an incredible person. We were very lucky to have been in his life and we will miss him desperately. I know we are not alone in this.
