Story
In September 2016 I started running from a pretty much near zero fitness level. Over time, slowly but surely I got a bit better and started to enjoy the challenge of running further distances. I needed an excuse to push myself further and found that excuse through committing to my first half-marathon, while supporting UNICEF in the process.
I will also be running this half-marathon in memory of my mum. Sadly my mum's battle with cancer recently came to an end - she spent most of her life looking after children as a mother, big sister, nursery nurse, charity worker, nanny and reverend. She firmly believed that all children should feel safe and be happy, and through her life she achieved this for so many children in so many ways. I'll never come close to matching the love and support she gave so many children, but hopefully I can do a small bit by way of raising money for a cause that I know she would've wholeheartedly supported.
UNICEF do fantastic work in protecting and defending the rights of children all around the world, from provision of food, safety, vaccinations, education and more. There are too many children suffering in the world and without them, we have no future.
If you can spare any contribution, no matter how small, UNICEF and I would be incredibly grateful.
